Shame Enough for the Both of Us

My first painting for BA Portfolio, Shame Enough for the Both of Us is an oil painting with elements of collage. Appropriating photos from vintage Playboys this work is an analysis of antiquated ideals of sexuality and femininity. The body of work which this painting comes from acts as a critique to the history of oil painting and its inherent catering to male artists and viewers, by combining it with a craft which has historically been carried out by women, my portfolio strives to level the playing field between the gendered divide within the art world.
